This part of Chesterfield County, Va., has experienced a population growth rate of 7.7 percent over the past seven years. Approximately 20,200 people reside in what is generally called the Midlothian community. It is expected that the population will grow at a 4.6 percent growth rate, adding approximately 6,300 people by 2015.

The Midlothian community has approximately 5,770 single-family homes. The owner occupancy rate is 91 percent. The turnover rate for 2008 was 6.2 percent, the highest rate countywide. The median age for a home is 14 years while the countywide median age is 22 years and the median house size is 2,355 square feet.

The average assessment of a home in the Midlothian community for 2008 was
$315,380. Based on valid sales, 106 new homes were built and sold in 2008. The median sale price for a new home in Midlothian was $387,950, above the county median of $370,960. There are 2,364 multi-family units in the Midlothian community.

Membership is drawn from organizations and individuals interested in the Western Chesterfield/Route 288 corridor. This area extends through the Village of Midlothian westward to the county line/Eastern Powhatan area, northward to the James River and south to the area around the Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center.
